2007 trends that were a bit too hard to pull off..

Whether we admit it or not, we look up to celebrities for some divine inspiration on fashion. But surely, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to consider some fads don't work for everybody... IT's sad when alot of people even try and still couldn't pull it off... hence, it's best that you leave these trends to the people who could...

Havianas-(First spotted on Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie) not that I hate them. I'm just not a big fan. I don't see them as anything spectacular except for the fact that they ARE Havianas. I own a pair and up to now, it's still a mystery why people would starve themselves to afford a pair. They're just flipflops!!! Rubber slippers you wear to the beach or at home, albeit softer, sturdier and more comfy. Anyway, I still love my one and only pair of Havianas. Though I don't think it's anything more than some pointless status symbol, atleast others think otherwise... and it's a great excuse for me to go to the mall in my house clothes.... (Worn best with freshly pedicured feet)

The ubiquitous skinny jeans-you see it everywhere nowadays... but people... please... not everything (nor everyone) goes well with skinny jeans... But if you do have the guts... well, noone's stopping you...

Uggs- (Spotted on J.Lo, Jessica Alba, etc.) Uggs to America as Havianas to the Philippines. Love them or hate them, either way, you can't avoid them.... They're everywhere, even in sunny L.A. Originally from the rural Down Under Uggs were popularized by American celebrities. This became an instant hit (An epidemic, if you may) and has earned its way to Oprah's list of favorite things on HOliday 2007. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with Uggs. I own one (or something that looks like it) and I do find them cute when worn over skinny jeans. And considering our office airconditioning system could beat the temperature of the North POle by a mile or two, Uggs would come in handy. But it's not something I will be wearing on a daily basis. I live in the Philippines where it's summer 365 days a year. Wearing boots every freakin day of my life is as stupid as wearing bikinis in Alaska. Besides, I could imagine the stench of my feet after wearing it almost every freakin day of my existence. What I would find equally stupid would be hot pants and micro minis with Uggs. It's a very tacky oxymoron. Uggs were designed to keep the cold out. It makes no sense if you wear it with a mini skirt or short shorts. It's like your legs are too hot but your feet are too cold. It's downright ridiculous. And track pants with Uggies? It's not as appealing either...
What i would suggest is you:
1. Wear Uggs over a pair of really tight skinny jeans
2. Over tights and wear a denim miniskirt.
3. When it's extremely cold and shoes and socks just wouldn't suffice... OR;
4. DON'T EVEN WEAR THEM AT ALL...

Peep-toe ankle length boots- Is it just me or is the whole peep toe boot hybrid isn't just working, even if it was Rachel Bilson wearing it. i mean, peep toes are cute, boots are sexy... but combining them both in one footwear would be all too.... weird....

Knee High Gladiator Sandals-I wish fashion icons would just leave this God awful footwear to the Spartans... It's one footwear that shouldn't have been brought back to life to begin with.... Thanks anyway to Mary Kate and Ashley...

Platforms- Platforms were the craze during the advent of the Spice Girls and then died down after a year. And then it made a comeback just recently. Well, they're not exactly THAT tacky, depending on how you wear them... Just don't wear them ultra strappy ala spice girls circa 99 or don fishnets or you'd look like a hooker... opt for classy dress shirts or skinny jeans and slouchy sweats or loose blouses... NEVER, EVER WEAR THEM WITH TIGHTS, NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS... ewwww..

Crocs-Crocs are cute... on a 5 year old in shorts and sando or on some toddler running amok on the beach... But when you're some teen aged boy or some dressed down yuppie enjoying a Sunday at the mall, it looks totally ridiculous... Much more if you're a girl and you put plastic flowers and butterflies on it... No matter what you wear, Crocs will never look good... Unless you're a kid...

The assymetrical bob- Looks like some five year old went all scissor happy playing barber with you... you poor poor thing... Don't worry, it will grow back in a couple of months. hehehe

The barbecue stick look- what people do to conform with society's notion of beauty... do you think looking like a skeleton is hot? it's your hunger pangs talking... GO HOME AND EAT SOMETHING!

The emo look-ONce again, some trends only work for a few special people... You'll have to accept the bitter truth... And can't you see the irony of the reason behind teenagers dressing up in such fashion to express individuality or rebelling against the norms?

Bangs- I learned the hard way that bangs that barely cover the forehead (without looking too 60's) is only for those with straight hair.... And don't you know, bangs can cause break outs on your forehead... well, i just thought you should know...
